Jon still uses 35mm film? I guess I do some of the time. Assuming he was using a 36 photo reel, he probably got around 19 photos (since film can always accommodate a couple extra)

Yeah, he's old school, he's had that camera for a while and basically refuses to upgrade because he likes the rawness of film, plus that camera has sentimental value.

Finding a place to process them when they're done is not exactly easy these days.

Finding a place to process them is still pretty easy, but every high street branch I've tried has printed them with this slightly blurry, pixelated (low res-digital printer) finish, whereas you never used to get this. I did some asking on another forum a while back and it turns out that sending them off to a specialist is the only way to avoid this nowadays. Even then, a lot of professional (digital) prints that I've come across have had the same digitalised pixelated finish.

The reduction in print quality is best done by comparing a Boots 35mm 6x4 print from the 1990s with one from the past 10 years.

Also, I hope Jon isn't using APS film - because you can't buy that anymore.

He develops them himself, which also is probably not very easy...

It's awesome how psyched he is. Psyched enough to risk life, limb, and camera to go back AT NIGHT... :)

Here's the life insurance-sized question: Is Jon smart enough to figure out that if he kneels down low enough he can't fall over the safety barrier he's in no danger of anything worse than losing his camera when he goes back?

Nothing worse? Nothing? Worse!?

I don't think you understand the photographer mindset. Camera > life

That's certainly how Jon would see it!

Probably the most excited Jon's been for anything in ages. XD

Hopefully nothing goes wrong now with the camera or photos.

Yeah, we haven't seen him smile like this in a while!

Oooh yeah, that would be bad... Let's hope he's more careful from now on!
